Senior Low Voltage / Technology Designer – Consulting Engineering Firm
An established MEP consulting firm with a diverse project portfolio is seeking a Low Voltage / Technology Designer to join its growing Building Systems group. This individual will contribute to high‑performance, technically complex projects while collaborating closely with mechanical, electrical, and architectural partners. Role Overview Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, the Low Voltage Technology Designer will lead the design of telecommunications, structured cabling, AV, and security systems. They will interface directly with clients, direct project coordination efforts, and oversee engineering deliverables throughout all phases—from concept development to construction administration.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design of low‑voltage and telecommunications systems including structured cabling (horizontal/vertical), voice/data networks, AV, security, access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, and related technology systems
Interpret client goals, define project scope, and translate design criteria into coordinated engineering solutions
Produce drawings, plans, specifications, and technical documentation
Collaborate with MEP teams and architectural partners to ensure integrated system design
Perform system analysis and develop concepts, layouts, schematics, and details for both new construction and renovation projects
Oversee project progress, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality expectations are met
Prepare and review technical specifications and contract documentation
Apply knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, and other codes and standards relevant to telecommunications and low‑voltage design
Provide construction phase support, including responding to RFIs and resolving field challenges
Assist with developing project schedules, budgets, and internal reporting
Minimum Qualifications
4–10 years of telecommunications, electrical/communications, or low‑voltage design experience within commercial, institutional, or mixed‑use buildings
Background in consulting engineering or integrated design environments
Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD; capable of executing design work independently
Experience working on renovation, retrofit, and tenant improvement projects
Strong technical problem‑solving abilities
Excellent communication skills and confidence in a client‑facing role
Ability to manage multiple tasks, support multidisciplinary coordination, and deliver on time and within budget
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Salary: $95,000 to $120,000
per year, depending on experience + a comprehensive benefits package
