Overview

We are seeking an experienced

RCDD Consultant

to provide expert guidance and design support for structured cabling and low-voltage systems within commercial, institutional, and enterprise projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of telecommunications standards, structured cabling design, and industry best practices, ensuring reliable and scalable infrastructure solutions. Key Responsibilities

Lead the design of structured cabling and telecommunications systems in compliance with TIA/EIA standards.

Develop detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications for copper and fiber-optic cabling systems.

Review project documents, architectural drawings, and MEP coordination plans to ensure proper integration of telecommunications infrastructure.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to design teams on structured cabling and network infrastructure.

Conduct site surveys and assessments to validate system requirements, pathways, and installation conditions.

Assist with design documentation for data centers, enterprise networks, AV systems, security, and low-voltage infrastructure.

Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure design coordination and project delivery.

Participate in quality assurance and quality control processes for low-voltage and telecommunications designs.

Stay current with emerging technologies, industry standards, and best practices for structured cabling and telecommunications systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Active RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification required.

5–10+ years of experience in structured cabling and telecommunications design for MEP or consulting environments.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD/BIM tools.

Deep understanding of TIA/EIA standards, NEC, and related codes.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing low-voltage systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, or data center projects.

Familiarity with AV, security, and IT network infrastructure design.

Knowledge of sustainable building practices and certifications (LEED, WELL) is a plus.
