Step into Your New Role Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

to join our Geotechnical Engineering group. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a role where they can execute project work, partner with other senior geotechnical engineers, provide mentorship to junior staff, and engage with clients in Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. This position is available in either our Mechanicsburg, PA or Pittsburgh, PA office.

Responsibilities Coordinate with multidiscipline team to prepare proposals and execute projects. Safely coordinate and execute field exploration programs, construction observation, and associated documentation. Complete engineering analysis including soil and rock classification; shallow and deep foundation capacity, immediate and consolidation settlement; slope stability analysis, geohazard evaluation, ground improvement, and earth retention systems. Partner with internal and external multidisciplinary teams during project development. Prepare Geotechnical Engineering reports. Prepare construction specifications and drawings. Be actively involved during the construction phase of projects. Positively interact with client representatives. Development of scope of work, project budgets, work breakdown structures, and schedules.

Qualifications B.S. degree in civil engineering (geotechnical or structural), M.S. preferred. 12+ years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering. Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License. Licensure in the State of Pennsylvania is required or should be obtainable within the first 3 months of employment through reciprocity. Experience with BoreDM, gINT, Lpile, SlopeW, Settle 3D, Slide and CAD software is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Word. Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills. Willingness to travel throughout Maryland and its contiguous states.
