About The Role Join Peraton’s Cyber Intel Team as a Cloud Software Engineer – shape the future of cloud solutions! Peraton is excited to offer an immediate opportunity for a talented Cloud Software Engineer to join our Cyber Intel team in Laurel, Maryland. If you’re passionate about cutting‑edge cloud technologies and thrive in an agile, collaborative environment, this is the perfect role for you. We’re looking for someone who will be instrumental in supporting and developing advanced capabilities for a state‑of‑the‑art Data Warehouse integrated into large‑scale cloud infrastructure. This role offers telework flexibility and requires some after‑hours on‑call support.
What You’ll Do
Design & develop: Lead agile software design and development, creating innovative solutions for high‑performance services hosted on massive compute clusters and AWS Cloud Infrastructure.
Optimize & enhance: Implement testing, performance tuning, and optimization for cloud‑native applications, ensuring high availability and efficiency.
Collaborate: Work closely with a dynamic, cross‑functional team to innovate and sustain our cloud‑based services.
Support: Serve as the go‑to expert, providing operational and sustainment support with occasional after‑hours and on‑call responsibilities.
Impact: Help shape the future of our cyber solutions and contribute to mission‑critical projects that make a difference.
What You Bring
AWS Expertise: Strong experience designing and developing AWS Cloud Architecture.
Cloud Tools Mastery: Deep proficiency with AWS SDKs/APIs and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
DevOps Passion: Hands‑on experience with Continuous Integration, Deployment, Testing, and Monitoring practices.
Java Skills: Expertise in Java for distributed systems, with a solid understanding of networking and multi‑threading.
Big Data Technologies: Experience working with Apache Hadoop, Accumulo, and NiFi.
Agile Mindset: A strong believer in agile development methodologies.
Linux & Scripting: Solid Linux fundamentals with experience in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl.
Source Control: Familiarity with Git, Maven, Jira, and other source‑code management tools.
Containerization: Knowledge of microservices development and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
Open Source Enthusiast: A willingness to contribute to and commit to open‑source applications.

Perform high‑level requirements analysis, software development, integration, and testing with autonomy.
Lead the design and execution of software solutions on large‑scale compute clusters and AWS Cloud Infrastructure.
Guide junior team members and help refine processes to ensure project success.
Evaluate technical needs, create task breakdowns, and oversee the design for technical accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications
An active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph is required.
12 years of experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is required. A degree in Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or a similar field will be considered a technical field.
Without a degree, we can accept four additional years of experience.
A master’s degree in a technical field will be considered equivalent to two years of experience, reducing the minimum requirement to ten total years.
One of the following cloud certifications is required: AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional, or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
Salary & Benefits Target Salary Range: $176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
