The Associate Medical Director Palliative provides and supervises medical care to palliative patients. The Associate Medical Director Palliative will work with the Medical Director and the Clinical Care Team to plan, to render and to evaluate clinical care. Knowledge & Experience Requirements

Medical Degree from an accredited School of Medicine required. MD or DO licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida. Must be board certified or eligible in Hospice/ Palliative Care. Medical Director experience preferred. 2-3 years of Hospice and/or Palliative Care preferred. 1-2 years hospital experience preferred. Demonstrate an understanding of palliative and hospice philosophy, and pain and symptom management in serious illness. Demonstrate an understanding of team approach and communication. Must have knowledge of computer office/clinical software. Must be able to read, write and understand the English language. Essential Functions

Provides and/or supervises palliative care services in the hospital and community settings. Completes visits as assigned by the Medical Director. Ensures the provisions of services are in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards and policies. Provides oversight and collaboration to nurse practitioners who conduct palliative consultative visits. Ensures quality palliative care services through planning, implementation and regular evaluation of clinical care. Ensures effective pain and symptom management is rendered to patients and their families by working with members of the palliative team. Assures appropriate clinical coverage and resources are available to meet patient care needs. Communicates effectively on behalf of Catholic Palliative Care Services to CHS board, staff, patients, families and the public. Participates as a presenter in education and training events and serves as faculty for graduate medical education. Meets regularly with members of the management team to promote coordination, communication and collaboration in support of superb patient care. Engages clinical staff in the development of policies and procedures to establish and maintain a patient care environment that promotes quality and safety. Provides appropriate response and resolution to patient or family complaints and/or service failures. Completes evaluations for clinical staff, including performance evaluations. Reviews physician's documentation and provides feedback to ensure high-quality care and compliance with billing requirements. Provides leadership in strategic planning and tactical support for palliative services, including for growth and expansion. Develops appropriate annual and long-term goals for palliative services. Assists in introducing the benefits of palliative care to long term care providers, managed care providers, hospitals and others; provides educational presentations in support of Catholic Palliative Care Services. Ensures that plans are developed and implemented that will promote palliative as a needed service to the community and ensure the viability of the practice. Remains current in knowledge about palliative care and hospice services. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Other Duties

Works in close conjunction with all lines of business at Catholic Health Services (CHS). Participates in Catholic Health Services (CHS) meetings as assigned by the Medical Director. Completes palliative projects as assigned by the Medical Director within agreed timelines. Handles sensitive information and maintains confidentiality. Applies for and maintains medical staff privileges at facilities in service areas as requested by the Medical Director. Assists in rendering medical care during emergencies, including weekends and holidays. Works within diverse social and economic situations without imposing own values. Promotes positive employee engagement, teamwork, mutual respect and safe work practices. Complies with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibility

May serve as an interim medical director depending on need. Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 250+ pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc. Disclaimer
