Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Director for Undergraduate Education, the Undergraduate Engineering Program Manager is responsible for the administration of the undergraduate engineering degrees in SEAS, including all Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs.
The role serves as the first point of contact for pre‑concentrators interested in the engineering programs, supports the academic policy work of the Undergraduate Engineering Committee, and oversees the ABET accreditation process for Bachelor of Science programs.
Job‑Specific Responsibilities
Pre‑concentrator advising: Plan and oversee SEAS pre‑concentrator advising events, serve as the first point of contact for Harvard College students interested in engineering, host office hours, answer emails, update advising documentation, and oversee the concentration declaration process.
Academic administration: Coordinate faculty advisor assignments, track degree progress in the my.harvard AAR, manage course petitions and exception requests, submit graduation recommendations to the FAS Registrar, update degree requirements, and collect grades for ES 91r.
Curricular oversight: Work with faculty to track curricular updates, ensure compliance with guidance and policies, serve as subject matter expert on academic policy related to undergraduate concentrations, and prepare materials for faculty committee meetings.
Educational committee administration: Lead the Undergraduate Engineering Committee, set agendas, prepare materials, develop curricular policies, and conduct meetings.
Accreditation administration: Oversee the ABET continuous improvement process and 6‑year review cycle, collect assessment data, co‑author the self‑study report, and prepare for accreditation visits.
Staff management: Manage one direct report within the Office of Academic Programs supporting undergraduate degree programs and course administration.
Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
The position requires occasional travel between Allston and Cambridge campuses.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering or a closely related field.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Advanced degree in engineering or a related field strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and engage a diverse group of constituents.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a deadline‑driven environment.
Ability to collect and analyze academic data for curricular assessment.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and database information management.
Adaptability and good judgment.
Additional Information
Standard hours: 35 hours per week.
Full‑time position requiring 3 or more on‑campus workdays each week, primarily on the Allston campus with occasional work on the Cambridge campus.
