Position Details
Manage acutely ill general pediatric patients of all ages admitted to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
Manage newborns in Level 1 and Level 2 nurseries.
Attend all high‑risk deliveries and lead delivery room resuscitation.
Stabilize infants requiring higher level of care and initiate transport to receiving team.
Complete routine newborn procedures and pediatric procedures (circumcision, frenotomy, lumbar puncture).
Facilitate resident and medical student education and collaborate with advanced practice providers.
Combination of 10‑hr daytime shifts, overnight shifts (BW/HDVCH) and 24‑hour restricted call (regional nurseries and MGL).
Rotating weekend coverage (approximately 1 in 3).
Collaborate on quality improvement, patient safety, and educational initiatives within the hospital system.
Academic appointment with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine; academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
Basic Qualifications
Medical Degree (MD or DO).
Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Pediatrics required; board‑eligible or board‑certified in Pediatric Hospital Medicine preferred.
Current M.D. or D.O. license for the state of Michigan.
Current State of Michigan and Federal Narcotics Licenses.
Certification – NRP (neonatal resuscitation), BLS, PALS.
Current M.D. or D.O. license for Michigan; NRP, BLS, PALS certifications.
Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital HDVCH is a 241‑bed tertiary care referral center with approximately 11,000 pediatric admissions per year. It provides ambulatory visits, a pediatric emergency department, residency and fellowship programs, and a large newborn program with about 8,000 annual deliveries.
Corewell West Regional Nurseries The regional nursery program cares for well infants in Level 1 nurseries throughout the Corewell West region, manages high‑risk deliveries, and facilitates transfers to higher levels of care with centralized leadership and support.
McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital McLaren Greater Lansing is a new tertiary teaching facility opened in March 2022, with 240 acute care beds and a modern birthing center where over 1,200 babies are born annually.
