Miru Smart Technologies develops electrochromic windows (“eWindows”) for the transportation and architectural sectors. Miru eWindows transform static glass into dynamic, responsive systems, disrupting industry standards with high performance, aesthetic and functionality. Miru is paving the way for the next generation of energy-efficient window technologies, with the vision to enhance the well‑being of people and our planet.
We are seeking a seasoned Director of Business Development to drive strategic growth within the automotive sector, focusing on closing large, complex deals with leading OEM and Tier 1 customers. This role represents Miru in bringing innovative solutions to the automotive market. The ideal candidate will be a proven relationship builder and dealmaker, adept at navigating long sales cycles and high‑value negotiations with senior executives and cross‑functional stakeholders. This is a high‑impact position, responsible for expanding our presence with industry leaders and delivering measurable business results.
We’re ideally looking for someone based in the Detroit area, SF or LA, but open to people close to other major OEM and Tier 1 automotive customers. This is ideally a 1099 consulting arrangement, but flexible for the right candidate.
Key Focus Areas & Goals
Identify, develop, and close high‑value opportunities with major OEM and Tier 1 automotive customers.
Lead complex, multi‑stakeholder sales processes from initial engagement through contract execution.
Develop and execute strategic account plans to expand revenue and strengthen long‑term partnerships.
Collaborate with technical, product, and executive teams to align solutions with customer needs and business objectives.
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to inform sales strategy and positioning.
Deliver accurate forecasts, pipeline visibility, and actionable insights to senior management.
Represent Miru at industry events and customer meetings to promote thought leadership and innovation.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in enterprise or key account sales within the automotive OEM or Tier 1 supply chain.
Proven success closing multi‑million‑dollar, multi‑year contracts with complex buying centers and long sales cycles.
Deep understanding of automotive industry structures, decision‑making processes, and technical requirements.
Strong network and established relationships within major automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
Exceptional negotiation, communication, and executive‑level presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage cross‑functional teams and influence at all organizational levels.
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
Willingness to travel across the U.S. and internationally as needed.
