Job Summary The Senior Principal Data Scientist will be responsible for producing innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex, diverse datasets. The role leverages expertise in statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to identify patterns and opportunities, pose business questions, and deliver actionable insights that inform decisions and strategies.

You’ll enjoy flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. For hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide project leadership and direction to data analysts, data scientists, and senior professionals, ensuring delivery of high‑quality analytics solutions within a matrix environment.

Develop and execute strategies for data analytics that impact multiple business units or markets.

Leverage knowledge of health plan and/or health system operations and performance drivers to align analytical insights with value creation for the business and customers.

Manage a portfolio of projects to meet deadlines, align with business priority and deliver value and strategic recommendations to external stakeholders and clients.

Create specifications to integrate data into a common structure for analysis and research.

Design and develop data solutions to support complex and ambiguous analyses, interpret results, and present actionable insights.

Responsible for end‑to‑end analytics pipeline that includes data sourcing, cleansing, engineering, modeling and interpretation – propose innovative ways to analyze and solve problems by using data mining approaches on available information.

Communicate complex analyses effectively to leaders across the organization, presenting clear and concise executive summaries.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of data analysis experience driving strategy.

8+ years of programming experience in languages such as Java, C++, VB, or data processing/statistical computing platforms like SQL, Spark, SAS, R, or Python.

5+ years of leadership experience, either direct management, leading project teams, or managing multiple layers of management and senior‑level staff.

Experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

Experience facilitating meetings with leaders, business and IT stakeholders.

Proven excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to develop high‑level executive presentations.

Proven interpersonal and relationship‑building skills to work with integrated teams of customers, product managers, project managers, developers, analysts, and quality engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the healthcare services or adjacent industries.

Experience managing large volumes of data and disparate relational databases. Understanding of budgeting and forecasting tools, terminology, and processes.

Pay and Benefits Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. Salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually for full‑time employment. In addition to your salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase plan and 401(k) contribution (subject to eligibility). We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
