Role Description McDonald Electrical Corporation is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial and institutional electrical construction projects throughout New England. The Project Manager is accountable for overall project performance, including safety, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction. This role works closely with field leadership, estimating, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered in alignment with company standards and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution

Manage electrical construction projects from contract award through closeout.

Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, work plans, and procurement strategies.

Lead project kickoff meetings and ensure a smooth transition from estimating to operations.

Proactively identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Financial & Cost Management

Maintain full responsibility for project budgets, cost control, forecasting, and profitability.

Review and approve labor, material, and subcontractor costs.

Prepare, price, and negotiate change orders in coordination with clients and general contractors.

Track job cost reports and take corrective action as needed to maintain financial performance.

Team Leadership & Coordination

Lead and coordinate project teams including Superintendents, Assistant Project Managers, field crews, vendors, and subcontractors.

Foster strong collaboration between field and office teams to maintain productivity and alignment.

Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers and junior staff.

Client & Stakeholder Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, and design teams.

Lead project meetings and communicate progress, risks, and schedule impacts.

Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business and referrals.

Documentation & Contract Management

Oversee project documentation including submittals, RFIs, change orders, pay applications, and closeout materials.

Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, drawings, and applicable codes.

Manage contract scope, inclusions, exclusions, and project correspondence.

Quality & Safety

Ensure all work is performed in accordance with McDonald Electricals’ safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability on all projects.

Participate in site walks, inspections, and quality reviews to ensure work meets project and client standards.

Scheduling & Procurement

Coordinate long‑lead material procurement and vendor relationships to support project schedules.

Work closely with purchasing and field teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.

Qualifications & Skills

Strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Experience with project and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).

Ability to read, interpret, and manage construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction processes.

Ability to work collaboratively with field and office teams.

Experience & Education

Minimum of

5+ years

of experience managing commercial or institutional electrical construction projects.

Experience working on healthcare, higher education, laboratory, or other institutional facilities preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
