University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, Orange, California, United States, 92613
The Department of Medicine at UCI School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for a nationally recognized academic physician to serve as the Chief of the UCI Division of Infectious Diseases. The UCI Division of Infectious Diseases comprises a distinguished cohort of 16 faculty members across the full spectrum of clinical care, research, and education. The Division includes comprehensive, high-quality clinical care and research programs in general infectious diseases, infections in immunocompromised hosts (including those post-transplant), and HIV medicine. With a total research portfolio of nearly $10 million, the Division includes research areas focused on HIV/AIDS, vector-borne diseases and host-pathogen interactions, parasitology, bacterial pathogens, and burden, risk factors, and containment of healthcare-associated infections. This is a particularly dynamic time for the Department and the next Division Chief, as the School implements a strategic vision to achieve research distinction, educational innovation, clinical excellence, and solidify its role as the area’s complex care leader. The Division Chief reports to the Chair of the Department of Medicine at the UCI School of Medicine and works collaboratively with clinical, academic, and administrative leaders within these entities, to advance the mission of identifying cutting-edge medical findings, teaching future healthcare professionals, and delivering high-quality comprehensive care while further elevating the division’s stature in the region and the nation. In addition, the Chief cultivates an inclusive and multidisciplinary culture consistent with the principles of the School of Medicine’s Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan (https://medschool.uci.edu/about/mission-vision-strategic-plan), providing mentorship to faculty members, trainees, and students while also upholding UCI Health’s mission to Discover, Teach, Heal (https://www.ucihealth.org/about-us/mission-vision-and-values).
