Role Summary Cost Engineering Team
is looking for a Software Engineer II. The engineer is responsible for driving financial visibility, cost efficiency, and long‑term economic sustainability across our cloud infrastructure. We blend engineering, data analysis, and financial insight to ensure that every technical decision upholds availability while preserving cost efficiency.
What You’ll Do
Break larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work.
Support peers and stakeholders through product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade‑offs.
Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” & on‑call efforts.
Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.
What We Look For
1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Designing, developing and launching backend systems; proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
Familiarity with building blocks of distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
Experience building cost visibility via tagging
or
creating cost savings opportunities via cost analysis.
Mastery of turning a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, writing clear, well‑tested, extensible code.
Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others’ code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
Ownership of growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Compensation Pay Grade – L Equity Grade – 6 USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $160,000 – $210,000 USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $142,000 – $192,000
