The Cost Engineering Team is looking for a Software Engineer II to drive financial visibility, cost efficiency, and long‑term economic sustainability across our cloud infrastructure. This role blends engineering, data analysis, and financial insight to ensure every technical decision supports availability while preserving cost efficiency.
What You’ll Do
Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with teammates to ensure timely delivery.
Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics; participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade‑offs.
Maintain the operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on‑call efforts.
Contribute to a sense of community by engaging in growth and development activities, including participation in the interview process.
What We Look For
At least 1.5 years of experience as a software engineer.
Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems; proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
Familiarity with distributed system fundamentals and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Experience building cost visibility via tagging or creating cost savings opportunities through cost analysis.
Ability to turn a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, writing clear, well‑tested, and extensible code.
Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others’ code, and providing constructive feedback through code reviews.
Ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
Strong verbal and written communication skills that facilitate collaboration with a global engineering team.
Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Compensation Pay Grade: L Equity Grade: 6 Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental, and vision for you and your dependents).
USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $160,000 - $210,000 USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $142,000 - $192,000
