Job Description Responsible for identifying new customers and developing account strategies that create, develop, and grow Core Natural Resource’s presence in North American metallurgical coal markets. Has direct business responsibilities for all existing and target metallurgical coal accounts in the United States and Canada; ensures overall company relationship management objectives are met for strategic accounts and produces annual sales results that exceed the company’s profit objective plan. This role also manages coal trading and brokering activities - covering market positioning, term and spot transactions, and value-driven optimization opportunities - to strengthen Core’s commercial performance and expand its presence across domestic and international markets.

Maintain a broad and in-depth understanding of Core Natural Resources and its customers. Demonstrate sound business judgement, especially when representing the company in interactions with customers and other external stakeholders.

Convey information in a manner that is compelling and convincing. Interface with individuals at various levels on topics ranging from broad industry issues to customer-specific problems.

Negotiate sales agreements with customers. Communicate sales plans, strategies, and results to company management.

Cultivate and develop long‑term customer relationships at multiple levels that deliver value to the customer and Core. Prioritize, manage, and respond to the needs of Core’s most complex and demanding customers.

Effectively negotiate and manage relationships with highly visible customers during politically sensitive situations, helping ensure that the company’s external objectives are met.

Develop sales tactics and strategies founded on sound technical and commercial considerations to grow Core's metallurgical coal sales volumes and increase profitability.

Perform financial and market analyses and provide input to the company’s financial and strategic planning activities related to metallurgical coal sales. Coordinate with mining operations to ensure that sales and operating plans are well coordinated.

Identify, structure, and execute metallurgical and thermal coal trading opportunities (domestic and export) that enhance Core’s market presence, optimize flows, and improve commercial returns.

Build and manage relationships with brokers, traders, and counterparties to support both physical and paper trading activities.

Ensure all trading activities comply with Core’s risk management policies, credit standards, and contractual requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

Extensive knowledge of (or ability to rapidly gain an understanding of) metallurgical coal markets, including key quality characteristics, domestic and seaborne customers, suppliers, and logistics.

Technical/Industry Experience – Demonstrated background and success within the metallurgical coal industry; extensive experience in Sales/Business Development role; must possess excellent contract negotiation skills.

Business/Financial Acumen – Understands business fundamentals, including drivers of cost and revenue; able to understand and work with key financial measurements to analyze the business; able to develop actions to correct financial performance; knows the international marketplace and understands how business strategies and tactics impact marketplace perception.

Builds Strategic Client Relationships – Develops and sustains effective long‑term business relationships with people, especially at senior levels to create value and influence customer buying patterns and increase sales revenue growth and market share.

Communicates with Impact – Clearly and consistently gets information across in a timely and effective manner both verbally and in writing; demonstrates the ability to influence people and get them to take appropriate action ethically; has excellent interpersonal skills and effective presentation skills.

Proficient in all sales aspects of international business; including cultural and legal matters.

Must possess good computer skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)

Bachelor’s Degree in a business or technical discipline or related field, preferred

10+ years of experience in international sales; including a minimum of 5 years in the mining and steel industries.
