Mia
The Opportunity
The $1.2T automotive industry is a pillar of American culture, representing nearly 5% of U.S. GDP and shaping how people live and move every day. At the center of this ecosystem are dealerships—trusted local businesses that help consumers navigate one of the most important purchases they make.
Today, the industry is at an inflection point. Consumers expect the same speed, personalization, and convenience they experience in modern digital‑first industries. At the same time, tighter margins and rising costs are driving a need for operational efficiency beyond what traditional software can support. Together, these shifts create a powerful opportunity to reimagine how dealerships deliver seamless experiences and build lasting customer relationships.
Dealers who modernize how they communicate and operate will unlock efficiency, deepen loyalty, and win long‑term relationships. It is time to upgrade automotive retail to the 21st century.
About Mia Mia Labs is an investor‑backed startup on a mission to modernize dealership operations and transform the automotive consumer experience. Our AI agent, Mia, turns every call or inquiry into an opportunity, improving customer satisfaction and dealership performance through automation that feels human. We are trusted by some of the nation’s largest dealership groups and are rapidly scaling our team, product offerings, and customer base.
Who You Are We’re looking for a Director of Finance to own and build the finance function end‑to‑end. This is a highly hands‑on role today with a path to growth as the company scales. You’ll partner closely with the CEO and investors to rebuild our financial model, track operating metrics, and run day‑to‑day financial operations.
This role is designed for someone who has already owned finance at high‑growth software startups and wants to step into broader strategic leadership with real growth upside.
What You’ll Do
Own forecasting, budgeting, cash planning, and runway management
Rebuild the company’s financial model from scratch, incorporating investor guidance, scenario planning, and sensitivity analysis
Support fundraising, board preparation, and strategic decisions with clear, defensible analysis
Track, analyze, and present weekly financial and operating metrics at executive leadership meetings
Prepare and deliver regular reporting to investors and key stakeholders
Own investor financial communications and questions
Ensure metrics are consistent, accurate, and aligned with operations
Take full ownership of accounting operations, working day‑to‑day with external accountants
Oversee month‑end close and balance sheet reconciliations
Review and approve payroll, AP, and cash disbursements
Own customer invoicing, collections, and AR management
Build scalable processes, controls, and documentation appropriate for a growing company
Act as the functional head of finance, balancing strategy with execution
Lay the groundwork for future finance and accounting hires
Grow into higher‑level roles as the company reaches the appropriate scale and complexity
What We’re Looking For
10+ years managing finance at high‑growth software startups
Prior experience at Series A–C stage companies
Proven ownership of financial modeling, forecasting, and operating metrics (e.g., ARR, burn, runway, LTV, CAC, cohort analysis) in a startup environment
Hands‑on experience running accounting operations (even when supported by external firms)
Comfort operating with incomplete data, ambiguity, and rapid change
Strategic, analytical, and comfortable operating in dynamic, fast‑paced environments—enjoys balancing detail with big‑picture vision.
Prior role as Director of Finance, Head of Finance, or equivalent
Experience supporting fundraising processes and investor diligence
Systems experience implementing or upgrading finance tooling (billing, payroll, ERP, expense)
Why Mia
Equity participation through stock options.
Fully paid health, vision & dental insurance for employees.
Flexible PTO and hybrid schedule (3 days / week in downtown Austin).
Free lunches, paid parking, team events, and a casual, but get things done culture.
Compensation
Compensation for this position will be competitive with current market rates and reflective of the candidate's experience, skills and qualifications.
Our Commitment At Mia, we’re committed to a workplace where everyone is valued, included, and empowered to do their best work. Our strength comes from diverse experiences, perspectives, and skills, and we’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
Passionate about the role but don’t tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you, you might be exactly who we need.
Mia is an EVerify employer.
