Purpose The objective of Manager, Engineering Projects is to provide design, engineering, and system planning expertise to all gas utilities for complex gas system projects. The position provides hydraulic modeling and gas engineering expertise to assist gas utility engineering and operations staff as needed. This role also provides system planning input to capital budget discussions for each gas utility and works directly with 3rd party hydraulic modeling experts as required. May or may not have direct reports. Technical and industry expert. Has extensive experience and regularly makes professional judgements. Reviews and makes recommendations on the output of engineering consultants.
Accountabilities
Receives engineering and system planning assignments of broad scope and complexity
Provides design, engineering, and system planning expertise to all gas utilities for complex gas system projects
Provides hydraulic modeling and gas engineering expertise to assist gas utility engineering and operations staff as needed
Provides system planning input to capital budget discussions for each gas utility
Provides review and oversight for work performed by 3rd party engineering and hydraulic modeling resources as required
Manage relationships with engineering, operations, and management staff in the gas utilities (oral and written)
Incorporates safety in engineering recommendations
Works with other team members, Liberty staff, and 3rd party contractors
Provides gas engineering input in development and maintenance of the gas O&M Plan
Confirms complex designs are in accordance with industry best practices and O&M requirements as requested by engineering staff in the gas utilities
Assists with review of the current O&M Plan, identification of deficiencies, and recommended edits or new processes and procedures
Assists with the development and maintenance of technical procedures in support of the O&M Plan requirements
Follows major projects through the construction process to ensure completion in accordance with system planning requirements
Identifies problems in engineering and system planning work processes and opportunities for improved work practices
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline
8+ years gas industry experience, 3 of which in management or lead role is preferred
Experience with SynergiGas is required
PE registration is preferred
