Job Description
The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law is seeking an Associate Director of Annual Giving. The Associate Director of Annual Giving is responsible for the development and coordination of annual giving and alumni solicitation activities that include cultivating relationships with donors, alumni, students, faculty and friends of the law school. In this role, the Associate Director of Annual Giving is expected to strategize and apply annual giving best practices that will develop and build a consistent donor base that may include alumni, board members, students, faculty, families of students and staff. This position focuses on both unrestricted giving and comprehensive campaign giving as directed to support Maryland Carey Law.

Essential Functions
Contribute in the planning and responsible for supporting the execution of annual giving strategies to renew, retain, increase and acquire all levels of annual giving donors. Responsible for meeting mutually set metrics to advance annual goals.
Liaise and work strategically with the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation Annual Giving Office to execute direct mail, calling programs, and online solicitation.
Support student affinity fundraising programs including crowdsourcing and appeals.
Support the creation and execution of special campaigns/initiatives including but not limited to Maryland Carey Law Gives week of giving, Reunion campaign, specialty program anniversary campaigns.
In conjunction with the Associate Director of Stewardship and Donors Relations, coordinate solicitations to the Maryland Carey Law School Club, the law school's leadership giving society.
Manage and coordinate the annual class gift campaign and develop strategy to grow and enhance student philanthropy.
In consultation with the UMB Annual Giving team, prepare routine reports on annual giving trends, donor participation, fundraising costs, and analyze data for use in goal setting and planning, and for building strategies for the future.
Actively engage in website planning and maintenance of annual giving pages.
Support the UMB Foundation Gift Processing team with check/gift processing. In coordination with the Office of External Relations and UMB colleagues, manage alumni data integrity through UMB's alumni CRM.
Support the Development team with event registration and email marketing.
Participate in team planning meetings, accept special assignments, assist colleagues and provide support for all ongoing Development programs and operations, as needed.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Three years of development experience in annual giving, phone-a-thons, alumni relations, special events, or fundraising, or higher education development experience.
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to assist in the writing and editing of solicitation materials.
Knowledge of non-profit fundraising, annual giving, marketing or alumni activities, reporting and receipting of annual fund solicitations and fundraising techniques and procedures, preferably in a higher education environment.
Ability to uphold federal laws governing privacy, including HIPAA and FERPA.
Ability to communicate and interact with, as well as support effective partnerships with peers, subordinates, and campus and community leaders.
Ability to establish goals, structures, and work independently or in a team environment.
Ability to use relationship-building skills to identify and cultivate new prospects or alumni as well as maintain and build upon relationships with existing prospects, alumni, and donors.
Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects, as well as conduct research, gather information, solve problems and make decisions.
Possess expertise with office computer systems and relevant programs including Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
Hiring Range $75,000 - $85,000 per year (Commensurate with education and experience)
