University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) . The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law is seeking an Associate Director of Annual Giving. The Associate Director of Annual Giving is responsible for developing and coordinating annual giving and alumni solicitation activities that include cultivating relationships with donors, alumni, students, faculty and friends of the law school. The role applies annual giving best practices to build a consistent donor base, focusing on both unrestricted and campaign giving.

Essential Functions

Plan and execute annual giving strategies to renew, retain, increase, and acquire donors, meeting mutually set metrics.

Work with the UMB Foundation Annual Giving Office on direct mail, calling, and online solicitation; maintain an annual solicitation calendar and coordinate with the Communications team.

Support student affinity fundraising programs, including crowdsourcing and appeals.

Create and execute special campaigns such as Maryland Carey Law Gives, Reunion campaign, and specialty program anniversary campaigns.

Coordinate solicitations to the Maryland Carey Law School Club and the school’s leadership giving society with the Associate Director of Stewardship and Donors Relations.

Manage the annual class gift campaign and develop strategies to grow student philanthropy.

Prepare routine reports on giving trends, donor participation, fundraising costs, and analyze data for goal setting and planning.

Engage in website planning and maintenance of annual giving pages.

Assist with gift processing and maintain alumni data integrity via UMB’s alumni CRM.

Support event registration and email marketing for the Development team.

Participate in team planning meetings, accept special assignments, and provide support for ongoing Development programs and operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree.

Experience: Three (3) years of development experience in annual giving, phone-a-thons, alumni relations, special events, or fundraising, or comparable higher education development experience.

Other: Relevant experience and formal education may substitute for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write and edit solicitation materials.

Knowledge of non‑profit fundraising, annual giving, marketing, alumni activities, and reporting in a higher education setting.

Understanding of federal privacy laws, including HIPAA and FERPA.

Strong interpersonal skills to build partnerships with peers, subordinates, and community leaders.

Ability to set goals, work independently or in a team, and prioritize projects.

Relationship‑building skills to identify and cultivate new prospects and maintain existing donor relations.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant computer systems.

Availability to work nights and weekends as needed.

Hiring Range $75,000 – $85,000 per year (commensurate with education and experience).
