Staff Quality Engineer, Factory Field Join Tesla as a Staff Quality Engineer in the Factory‑Field team. You will lead the Factory‑Field Quality team and drive continuous improvement across Tesla's manufacturing operations.

What You'll Do

Lead and mentor engineers and technicians in cleaning field data, analyzing trends, and presenting results.

Establish and maintain quality performance metrics.

Analyze high‑volume data and synthesize critical trends to drive continuous improvement of field quality metrics.

Lead/facilitate review and disposition of discrepant materials for non‑conforming product control.

Cultivate critical relationships with field teams to accelerate feedback for problem definition and root‑cause analysis.

Influence cross‑functional problem‑solving teams to enact process and product improvements using QA methodologies; drive development, implementation, and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions.

Develop and implement quality standards within Tesla's Quality System to assure products meet customer expectations.

Promote and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and enjoyment within the team.

Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily housekeeping and 5S standards.

What You'll Bring

Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.

5‑8 years of quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment.

Strong project‑management experience across multiple teams using methodologies and software.

Ability to analyze data in ambiguous scenarios and eagerness to learn new tools and methodologies.

Experience mentoring, training, or leading a small team of engineers and technicians, creating/updating work instructions, and providing feedback to leadership.

Specific training and demonstrated success applying quality problem‑solving methods such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc.

Experience with a wide variety of measurement and inspection techniques.

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (5‑10%).

May be required to support extended hours based on business and production needs.

Detail oriented, effectively handles multiple priorities, strong quality mindset, and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Compensation Expected Compensation: $108,000 – $192,000 per year + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay may vary depending on market location, experience, and skills.

Location Fremont, CA (Remote interest may be considered).
