Position Summary:
The CS and ECE departments are seeking a tenure‑track faculty member with expertise in quantum computing across a broad spectrum of research areas. Candidates may specialize in theory, algorithm design, information processing, networking, sensing, architectures, error mitigation, or quantum software and programming languages. Experimental hardware experience is encouraged. The hire will collaborate with Physics, Mathematics, and the Nanotechnology Core Facility (NCF). The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate CS courses, develop new quantum computing courses, mentor graduate students, and maintain a strong research program.
Quantum computing theory, including quantum complexity theory and quantum information theory
Quantum algorithmic design and analysis, and applications to AI, NLP, and quantum integration
Quantum information processing (e.g., quantum noise, error correction, data compression, cryptography, compilation)
Quantum networking for distributed quantum computing
Quantum sensing and metrology
Quantum computer architectures (hybrid quantum-classical computing systems, secure scalable design)
Fault tolerance and error mitigation for quantum (resource efficient fault-tolerant architectures, algorithms, security protocols)
Quantum software and programming languages (circuit optimization, simulation, verification; high-level languages and compilers)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science and quantum computing.
Conduct independent research and secure external funding.
Mentor graduate students and supervise research projects.
Engage in departmental and university service, including curriculum development.
Participate in special projects and collaborations with local and national partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Strong record of research, teaching, and collaboration in quantum computing is required.
