The Senior Manager, Strategy plays a critical role in shaping and accomplishing strategic growth initiatives for the Oncology platform within BD’s Peripheral Intervention business unit. This position leads the strategy development process and drives both organic and inorganic growth opportunities that align with BD’s mission and long-term priorities. The role oversees strategic planning activities, advances market intelligence capabilities, and supports innovation and business development efforts to ensure a robust pipeline of growth opportunities. It partners closely with platform leaders, cross‑functional teams, and senior leadership to deliver actionable insights and strategic recommendations that influence key decisions at both the business unit and corporate level.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the strategy development process for the Oncology platform, ensuring alignment with BD’s mission and growth priorities.
Define and translate the strategic vision into clear, actionable goals and objectives across 1-, 3-, and 10-year horizons.
Lead and support planning processes for the Annual Strategic Review (ASR), New Product Development (NPD) Review, and long-term portfolio planning.
Conduct comprehensive market, competitive, financial, and customer analyses to identify growth opportunities and risks.
Lead the development and improvement of market intelligence capabilities and frameworks to assist with planning, evaluating opportunities, and making decisions.
Identify and prioritize strategic adjacencies and whitespace opportunities through landscape mapping and scenario planning.
Support innovation pipeline management and ideation activities, including early-stage concept development and unmet needs assessment.
Evaluate new business ventures, partnerships, and acquisition opportunities; develop robust cases and participate in diligence processes.
Develop compelling strategic materials and deliver presentations to senior leadership, including the Executive Leadership Team (ExLT) and Board of Directors.
Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams (business development, marketing, R&D, finance, legal, regulatory) to ensure strategic alignment and execution.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal collaborators and external Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to inform strategic decisions.
Provide strategic guidance and coaching to platform teams to drive execution and cultivate a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, or related field required; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
8–10 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in strategy, consulting, or corporate development; healthcare or MedTech experience required.
Proven track record in strategic planning, market analysis, and evaluating build‑vs‑buy growth opportunities required.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and present to executive audiences required.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and communicate effectively with senior leadership required.
Ability to balance detailed analysis with broader strategic context and drive consensus among diverse collaborators required.
Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and business insight with experience in financial modeling and strategic frameworks required.
Deep understanding of medical device market dynamics, regulatory environment, and innovation processes required.
Strong project management skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
