Director of Engineering
We’re searching for a Director of Engineering to lead our AV and mechanical engineering operations in video technology systems which also may include some live events in the sports arenas. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with established, hands‑on experience in AV systems, video camera technologies, as well as some experience in real‑time broadcast environments. Ideally this role will drive process improvements and innovation, manage technical staff, and help ensure flawless execution of our scope from pre‑production to post‑sales and installation.
Typical Job Duties
Lead and mentor engineering staff across multiple integration and installation projects, some live event, production and broadcast projects
Design and implement AV systems that include robotic cameras, switchers, replay systems, and LED walls
Manage technical execution during live sports events, including signal flow, camera shading, and troubleshooting
Collaborate with production, creative, and venue teams to ensure seamless integration
Maintain and upgrade AV equipment inventory and technical documentation
Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and equipment logistics
Stay ahead of emerging technologies and pilot new tools and workflows for 8K’s efficiencies.
Requirements
8+ years in AV engineering, with a strong focus on video camera systems, live events, especially sports.
Proven experience in multicamera production environments and broadcast systems
Deep knowledge of video signal flow, camera systems, audio routing, and control networks
Strong leadership and project management skills
Working knowledge of AV design tools and related software (D-Tools, Visio, AutoCAD)
Familiarity with AV inventory systems (Microsoft 365), and control software
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Broadcast Technology, or related field
Preferred Skills and Certifications
AVIXA, SMPTE, CTS-D or broadcast engineering certifications
Experience with LED wall integration, robotic camera control, and projection systems
Ability to thrive in high‑pressure, fast‑paced, sometimes live environments
Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
