As Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, you will guide multi‑year budgeting, capital planning, and performance management. Partnering with senior leadership, you will deliver data‑driven insights and innovative financial models that empower strategic decision‑making and ensure operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead development and improvement of enterprise‑wide financial models for multi‑year budgeting, capital planning, and performance management.
Provide actionable insights through data‑driven analysis, sensitivity testing, and forecasting to guide strategic decision‑making across the School of Medicine.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align financial goals with institutional priorities, ensuring operational efficiency and fiscal accountability.
Build and maintain enterprise‑wide financial models to support resource allocation, capital planning, and performance management.
Perform financial modeling and pro‑forma analyses for new and ongoing initiatives, integrating key budgetary and financial information.
Conduct sensitivity analyses and forecasting to support strategic decision‑making across the School of Medicine.
Analyze financial data to identify key drivers, trends, benchmarks, risks, and opportunities.
Provide actionable recommendations to leadership to optimize financial performance while maintaining operational efficiency.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align financial goals with business objectives and ensure financial health and accountability.
Strengthen the University’s budgeting and financial planning by developing robust analyses and models.
Participate in project teams and committees addressing fiscal management, technology, administrative policies, and human resource issues.
Implement systems and process improvements to enhance forecasting accuracy, reporting speed, and analytical capabilities.
Provide training on core systems and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
7–10 years of experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
Exceptional analytic, data analysis, and accounting skills.
Ability to synthesize large amounts of financial data and utilize business intelligence tools.
Strong working knowledge of fund accounting and sponsored research administration and finance mechanisms.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Maintains strict confidentiality and discretion with proprietary and sensitive material.
Demonstrates collegial and respectful interactions in all work relationships.
Preferred
MBA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant).
Financial experience in a complex academic medical center or higher education.
Experience with enterprise reporting systems (e.g., SAP, A40) to support financial and analytical reporting.
Anticipated Pay Range Duke University provides an annual base salary range: USD $111,129.00 to USD $222,260.00. Compensation factors include scope and responsibilities, work experience, education/training, key skills, internal equity, market and organizational considerations.
