Function / Duties of Position The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry seeks a child & adolescent psychiatrist for a full‑time faculty position in our outpatient clinic. This is a 1.0 FTE assistant‑to‑associate appointment (12‑month, fixed‑term). The role expects 80% clinical presence in outpatient settings and 20% dedicated supervision, teaching and other academic responsibilities. The position includes staffing the Bridge Clinic Services and may include research and scholarly activities, which are encouraged but not required.

Outpatient General Clinical Psychiatry (70%) Provide outpatient evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for children and adolescents with a range of mental health conditions. Conduct comprehensive assessments, formulate treatment plans, provide medication management and psychotherapy interventions, coordinate care with primary providers, therapists and school personnel, and maintain thorough documentation in the electronic health record.

Supervise psychiatry residents (0.5 days per week) Oversee residents’ clinical care and provide teaching and mentorship during their rotation.

30% Bridge Clinic Services Serve youth needing short‑term psychiatric care after a crisis or hospitalization, providing a bridge to long‑term care within OHSU or the community.

Teaching and Supervision Supervise fellows, residents, medical students and other trainees in both clinic and the CL service; facilitate clinical skills teaching, case reviews, and provide feedback. Participate in didactic teaching, such as lectures or seminars for interdisciplinary audiences.

Scholarly and Academic Activities Use protected academic time for research, quality improvement, curriculum development or other academic pursuits aligned with career goals. Faculty are encouraged to publish, present at conferences and develop innovative clinical programs.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration Work with pediatric specialists, psychologists, social workers, nurses and therapists to enhance patient care and outcomes. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions and foster strong interprofessional relationships.

Clinical Administration and Other Duties Participate in program development, clinical administration, service line development, quality improvement and clinical research initiatives. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality and safety standards.

On‑Call and Weekends Cover approximately 4 weekend call shifts per year on the CL service, with additional compensation. No routine night call is required outside of these weekends; holiday coverage may rotate among faculty.

Required Qualifications

Education & Training : MD or DO from an accredited medical school; completed residency in General Psychiatry and fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

Board Certification/Eligibility : Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; board‑certified in General Psychiatry expected. Eligible for medical licensure in Oregon and compliant with all credentialing requirements.

Clinical Expertise : Demonstrated excellence in care of children and adolescents; competence in evaluation, psychopharmacology and psychosocial interventions; ability to consult on complex medical/psychiatric cases and manage a regular outpatient panel. Experience in Consultation‑Liaison Psychiatry, especially in pediatrics, is highly valued. Commitment to trauma‑informed and developmentally appropriate care.

Teaching & Supervision : Passion for teaching and mentoring. Prior experience supervising medical students, residents or fellows is desirable. Ability to provide constructive feedback and foster a positive learning environment.

Collaboration & Communication : Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with professionals across fields. Commitment to team‑based care and collegiality.

Scholarly Interests : Interest in clinical research, scholarly writing or program development is a plus. Motivation to use academic time to contribute to the field is supported.

Licensure & Certification : Valid Oregon medical license (or eligibility) and DEA certification for prescribing. Maintenance of board certification and licensure through continuing medical education.
