Senior Application Engineer / FDE

This position is remote and will be based in Chicago, IL.
You’ll make an impact by:
Setting up, commissioning, and validating systems in the manufacturing environment.
Working on‑site from initial setup to full validation to ensure solutions operate flawlessly.
Embedding with forward deployment teams and partners during pilot and rollout phases to adapt solutions to real‑world constraints and provide rapid insights to product development.
Ensuring systems are fully operational and optimized, bridging the gap between concept and field deployment, with a focus on scaling and optimizing future deployments.
Providing actionable feedback that directly influences the scalability, reliability, and performance of the next version of the system.
Demonstrating technical expertise, problem‑solving skills, and a customer‑centric mindset to ensure successful implementation and continuous improvement.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications: Basic Qualifications
10+ years of experience in scenario building, commissioning of systems, and validating solutions in industrial or automation environments.
Proficiency in automation and control systems such as PLC, DCS, Edge and IoT platforms, ERP/MES systems.
Proficiency in relevant programming or scripting languages and communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, OPC UA) relevant for industrial automation.
Experience working within Lean manufacturing principles.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work in cross‑functional, customer‑facing teams and adapt solutions to evolving requirements.
Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or 10+ years of professional experience in a related field.
Experience with forward deployment engineering: embedding with customer teams, rapid prototyping, field validation, and iterative improvement.
Knowledge of test automation, compliance documentation, and system validation in regulated environments.
Willingness to travel during critical deployment phases.
Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between core engineering and field deployment, enabling scalable, reliable adoption of new systems.
Proactively sharing insights and feedback from deployment experiences with product teams to foster collaboration and drive continuous improvement.
