Loan Portfolio Analyst- Construction & fix and flip (Irvine)

LOAN PORTFOLIO ANALYST-Construction & Fix and Flip | Credit & Portfolio Management
Reports to: Chief of Technology Salary Range: $150,000 annually
Essential Functions Analyze and monitor the performance of business-purpose loan portfolios, including Fix-and-Flip and Ground-Up Construction loans. Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting packages; track KPIs such as loan aging, draw utilization, construction timelines, delinquency/default trends, loss severity, and realized IRR/ROI. Maintain and update portfolio dashboards using advanced Excel, Power BI, and/or Tableau to support real-time visibility into loan and project performance. Work closely with the
Technology Department , which will provide SQL datasets for reporting. Work closely with the
Capital Markets Department
to support strategic loan pool analysis for securitization. Work closely with the
Marketing Department
to provide trends and performance analysis. Conduct portfolio surveillance by monitoring payment behavior, extension requests, cost overruns, stalled progress, and borrower performance patterns. Support stress-testing and scenario modeling, assessing portfolio cash-flow impacts and risk-adjusted performance, including modeling of
CDR
and
CPR . Clean, validate, and normalize data from multiple systems (LOS, servicing platforms, draw-management tools), ensuring a single source of truth for reporting and analytics. Assist in preparing loan tapes, collateral data, and performance summaries for forward-flow arrangements, warehouse lender reporting, and whole-loan sales. Collaborate with underwriting, servicing, construction management, capital markets, and executive leadership to support credit decisions, operational improvements, and portfolio strategy. Support the
Asset Management Department
through reporting on servicing records, project documentation, loan files, and investor reporting requirements.
Competencies/Skills Proven analytical experience in real-estate lending, loan servicing, business-purpose credit, or portfolio analytics. Advanced Excel capabilities (pivot tables, SUMPRODUCT, INDEX/MATCH, array formulas) and strong SQL proficiency. Strong experience using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools to build dashboards and data-visualization reports. Knowledge of Fix-and-Flip and Ground-Up Construction lending, including budgets, draws, inspections, project lifecycle, and risk indicators. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex loan data and communicate findings clearly to senior leadership. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented lending environment. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) when working with internal teams, borrowers, and external partners. Self-starter with a process-driven mindset and strong problem-solving capability.
Education and Experience Bachelors degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, Math, Computer Science, or a related field. 35+ years
of experience in real-estate credit, loan-servicing analytics, hard-money lending, private credit, or loan portfolio analysis. Experience with LOS/servicing systems (LendingPad, Encompass, Mortgage Automator, REFG/Drawbridge, or custom LOS). Experience supporting capital-markets functions, loan sales, investor reporting, or valuation processes (preferred). Background in private equity real estate, private credit, specialty finance, or construction lending (preferred). Familiarity with cash-flow modeling, loan waterfalls, or credit-risk frameworks (plus). Formal Bank Credit Training is a plus but not required.
