Job Overview A global energy company is seeking a Power Grid Modeling and Forecasting Advisor to lead long-term grid scenario development and nodal price forecasting for the ERCOT market. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with commercial insight to support fundamental trading strategies. Responsibilities Lead long-term nodal price forecasting for the ERCOT market using production cost modeling tools. Identify optimal sites for new projects based on nodal studies and congestion trends. Execute and maintain production cost models (Dayzer preferred), ensuring accurate inputs and calibration. Analyze macro and micro fundamentals driving Day Ahead and Real-Time congestion outcomes, including supply/demand dynamics, renewable penetration, outages, and bidding behavior. Calibrate model outputs against market results and implement improvements to enhance accuracy. Build and maintain dispatch and flow models; communicate fundamental views to internal stakeholders. Participate in ISO stakeholder meetings and assess commercial implications of regulatory changes. Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline. 10+ years of professional experience, including 7+ years in grid planning or wholesale electricity markets within ERCOT or similar ISOs. Deep understanding of power grid optimization, power flow shift factors, line-outage distribution factors, and contingency analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to challenge and debate ideas constructively. Proficiency in SQL and Python Experience with production cost modeling tools (Dayzer preferred)
