Role Overview Cashera Capital is seeking a
Director of Underwriting
to lead and oversee the underwriting function within our fintech lending platform. This role is responsible for setting underwriting standards, approving credit decisions, managing risk frameworks, and leading an underwriting team in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
The ideal candidate brings
hands-on fintech lending experience , strong credit judgment, and the ability to scale underwriting processes while balancing growth and risk.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all underwriting activities across Cashera Capitals fintech lending products Establish, implement, and continuously refine underwriting policies, credit models, and risk frameworks Review and approve credit decisions, including complex or non-standard transactions Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Legal, and Operations teams to align underwriting with platform capabilities Use data, analytics, and technology to improve underwriting efficiency, consistency, and performance Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing underwriting team
Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of underwriting experience within a fintech lending environment Strong understanding of fintech credit products, automated underwriting, and data-driven decisioning Proven experience approving credit and managing risk at scale Strong analytical, decision-making, and leadership skills Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally Experience in private credit, specialty finance, or alternative lending Familiarity with credit models, scoring systems, and underwriting automation
