MMSD is seeking qualified candidates for the position of LIMS Data Analyst in the Water Quality Protection Division. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you support the management of laboratory documentation and data using the laboratory information management system (LIMS), Hach WIMS, and other laboratory databases. Create and issue reports of analytical and fiscal data requested by internal and external customers from all levels. Compile and prepare reports for regulatory agencies. Assist laboratory staff with maintaining laboratory electronic records. Coordinate and complete requests for laboratory documents. Incorporate or convert laboratory records, documents, and notebooks containing analytical data into an electronic format. Maintain and create new features for control charts, code additional features based on feedback, and troubleshoot issues. Evaluate the continued functionality of LIMS and maintain an inventory of desired enhancements. Collaborate with various departments and their respective LIMS clients to support their databases containing laboratory results. Serve as a resource to the laboratory staff on various information management systems. Facilitate the integration of electronic information systems used in the laboratory. Document LIMS architecture, changes, upgrades, and user guides. Complete special projects as assigned. Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, computer science, or a related field. Two years of job-related experience (advanced education degrees will be considered in lieu of experience). Working knowledge of current industry technology standards and databases. Ability to prepare and perform data queries and to tabulate the extracted data into user defined formats. Working knowledge of laboratory quality assurance, data processes, Hach WIMS, and LIMS Computer software proficiency with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Physical Requirements: Work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 lbs. of force. Work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, and using hands. Work occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, kneeling or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, and repetitive motions. Sensory Requirements: Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data. Environmental Exposures: Work occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Work is generally in a quiet location.
