Accounting Assistant

Office position with responsibility for assisting the Accounting Manager, answering the phone and other administrative duties. Our company is seeking a courteous, cheerful, and enthusiastic individual who can make a good first impression on newcomers, eagerly assist repeat callers and represent the company focus on service. Additional responsibilities involve performing general office support duties and frequent use of a computer to assist the company's accounting department with account payable duties, support to shipping and billing transactions. This position sits with an open concept office and requires strong math skills, accounting skills, close attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to be successful. Accounting: Basic understanding of accounting processes Opening and/or sorting finance mail Distributing voucher for department approval Inputs AP data into the accounting system Assists in running checks as directed by the Accounting Manager Assist in preparing daily invoice register Match BOL's to invoices Perform batch scan on all sale's orders Process invoices at end of day to be mailed and e-mailed Maintain filing for all open and closed sale's orders Establish credit files for new customer accounts General Administrative: Receive incoming calls and direct callers to destination Greet visitors: instruct visitors to sign in and/or review the application process with them Prepare outgoing mail to include overnight packages Schedule repair services for office equipment Order and maintain office and break room supplies Coordinate and assist with company events Interface effectively with supervisor and co-workers Ability to work independently and accomplish assignments Located in NW Houston Qualifications and Education Requirements: High School diploma Associates Degree and/or Working Towards Associates Degree Strong Math and/or Accounting Required Candidate will take math test Hands-on experience with MS Office Candidate must be punctual to ensure reliable phone and visitor coverage during company's hours of business Although infrequent, must be able to work overtime when needed Candidate must pass drug screen Physical demands associated with position Physically able to stand, bend, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, handle and move items weighing up to 20 pounds with or without assistance May occasionally be exposed to shop environment including noise and heavy equipment, when periodically interacting with shop personnel Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment when having to perform occasional job duties in the warehouse Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $18.00 - $20.00 Per Hour
