POSITION HIGHLIGHTS The APP will work under the supervision of the NCCS attending staff that includes Anesthesia, Neurology, and Pulmonary/Critical Care Physicians. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Neuro Critical Care at Harborview Medical Center
takes care of a patient population that includes Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, Intracranial Hemorrhage, Acute Ischemic Stroke, Seizure and Status Epilepticus, Isolated Traumatic Brain Injuries, Neuromuscular disorders, Brain Tumors, CNS infections, hypoxemic-ischemic encephalopathy, Spinal Cord Injury, and post-operative spine patients PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform patient care to include admitting new patients, participating in daily patient rounds, daily care evaluation and management of ICU patients, writing daily progress notes and formulating/implementing plans
Collaborate with acute care services (ortho spine, neurosurgery, and neurology services) to daily sign out patients leaving the unit
Use ICU Checklist on morning rounds to complete the daily checklist for each patient to ensure proper care and communication with nursing staff
Facilitate family meetings and participate in goal of care discussions as appropriate
Perform procedures including Central Venous Catheters, Arterial Lines, Bronchoscopy, Lumbar Punctures, Point of Care Ultrasound
Quality Improvement and Research including QI meetings and ongoing QI projects
REQUIREMENTS
If ARNP:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
AND
Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges
AND
national certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
If PA-C:
Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington
