Job Description: Summary: Graduate Student Ambassadors (GSA) serve as important representatives for the Office of Graduate Admissions at the School of Public Affairs (SPA). The position requires enthusiastic, personable, highly organized, versatile, and extremely dependable individualswhoare able to represent the SPA graduate student experiencetoprospective students. Responsibilities : ParticipateinAmbassadortrainingandanyadditional,requiredtrainingsrelatedto recruitment initiatives.
AttendAmbassadorand/orotherrelevant meetings.
Willsupportvirtual,campusvisitprocessincludingplanning,execution,andfollow- up with prospective students.
Monitorthe spainfo@american.edu inboxandoffer timely, professional response(s) as approved by supervision.
EnterprospectivestudentinformationintheCRM.
Establishand/ormaintainrelationshipswithprospectivestudentsutilizingvarious mediums (written, online, social).
Work closely with admissions staff on special projects/initiatives (e.g. admission congratulationsandmissing itemscalls, Chat with a Current Student,researchprojects)relatedtoprospective student recruitment.
Assistwithplanning,implementation,andexecutionofrecruitment events like: SPA Preview Day, Top Prospect Day, Engagement Day, Decision Days, Social Reception, Social Hours, Any other major SPA recruitment events.
Pleaseconsider attendance
mandatory. These events will have class visits the night beforehand.
Assistintheresearch,logisticalplanning,preparationsandfollow-uprelatedto recruitment fairs/initiatives.
Beknowledgeableofacademicprogramsaswellasstudentlifesothefullgraduate student experience is shared credibly with prospective students and influencers.
RepresentSPA&AUprofessionallyviaon-campus and onlinepresentationand decorum.
Otherdutiesasrelevantand assigned.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work: Part-Time.
Ambassadorswillwork,5-10hoursaweekon-campusand will have the privilege of establishing a work schedule that prioritizes both academic and other professional demands.
Some eveningworkhoursare required.
Extendedworkhourswillberequestedformajorrecruitmentevent andalter regular work hours to accommodate support for these events.
Position is from Fall 2025 - Spring 2026.
Salary Range: $18.50 per hour.
Required Education and Experience: A successful candidate would be team-oriented and self-directed.
Can work well in a fast paced, multi-task environment.
Attention to detail is essential.
Familiaritywithorthe willingnesstolearnnewcomputerprogramssuchas MicrosoftExcel and the campus’ Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, Salesforce.
High degreeofsensitivitytothehandlingofconfidentialinformation.
