Junior Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to support our accounts payable functions and assist with various general ledger and accounting tasks. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop accounting skills while working closely with field units and internal departments. Under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor, you will help ensure accurate financial transactions and compliance with organizational policies. Key Responsibilities: Process high-volume full-cycle accounts payable for multiple units. Maintain and organize vendor files and system records as needed. Review new vendor setups and ensure compliance with W9 & 1099 requirements. Verify invoice coding to ensure expenses are recorded in the correct accounts. Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures regarding A/P processes. Track sales tax records for quarterly reporting. Generate checks and prepare accompanying documentation. Research and resolve A/P issues in a timely manner. Follow up on outstanding or stale checks. Ensure consistency in reimbursement and petty cash forms across all units. File vouchers and supporting documentation appropriately. Reconcile A/P Aging Reports on a monthly basis. General Ledger Support: Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures. Prepare journal entries for prepaid expenses. Review monthly expenses and prepare necessary accruals. Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts related to accounts payable. Process journal entries for corporate credit card transactions. Record journal entries to allocate expenses across units or departments. Reclassify invoices or reimbursements when necessary. Assist with audit preparation with a focus on accounts payable. Additional Responsibilities: Provide backup support for accounts payable duties in the absence of other staff members. Assist and support the Accounting Supervisor with various tasks and projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree At least 1-2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with a focus on accounts payable. Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with general accounting principles and procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software is a plus. Good communication skills for liaising with vendors and field units. Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
