What to Expect The Self-Driving Hardware team is looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join the team in Palo Alto, CA. Firmware Engineers are expected to develop, test, and document firmware for the Self-Driving system. The successful applicant will join a team of knowledgeable Engineers and have opportunities to solve challenging problems in embedded and server infrastructure software. The role involves close collaboration with hardware teams and engagement in hardware and software co-design tradeoffs of complex server systems. What You'll Do Deliver high-quality C code in a real-time embedded environment Specify, design, and implement functionality and behaviors of embedded subsystems Design software architecture and firmware implementation on hardware through integration, testing, and high-volume manufacturing Conduct hardware bring-up, system debugging, and code optimization Make performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements What You'll Bring Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience in embedded development in robotics, real-time controls, or system software Proficiency in C, C++, and Python Knowledge of silicon system firmware concepts including core and memory management, RTOS, interrupts, protocol buffers, low-speed communication protocols, AXI and APB bus Strong understanding of software design and maintainability Experience in controls software and algorithm development Familiarity with test-driven development and automated testing Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively Development experience with safety-critical and embedded-oriented languages such as Rust or Spark ADA Experience with STM32 microcontrollers and embedded microprocessor tools Compensation and Benefits Benefits include: Medical plans with $0 payroll deduction, dental and vision coverage Family-building, fertility, adoption, and surrogacy benefits Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company-paid insurance including Life, AD&D, disability Employee Assistance Program, paid time off, holidays, and flexible schedules Additional support resources and voluntary benefits such as critical illness, pet insurance, and more Expected Compensation $133,440 - $246,720 annually, plus cash and stock awards and benefits.
