Heavy Threader Operator
Company: A Leading Manufacturer of Industrial Components Location: West Jefferson, Ohio Job Summary: Our company, a significant producer in the industrial components sector, is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Threader Operator to join our dynamic production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining heavy-duty threading machinery to produce high-quality threaded components according to precise specifications. This role is critical to our manufacturing process and requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to productivity and safety. Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate heavy threading machines used in the production of [type of product, e.g., metal pipes/conduits]. Interpret blueprints, work orders, and specifications to determine machine setup, tooling requirements, and threading parameters. Select, install, and adjust threading dies, cutting tools, guides, and other machine components. Load and unload materials (e.g., pipes, rods) into the threading machine, manually or with a JIB crane or other lifting devices. Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions, wear, or deviations from standards; make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and consistency. Perform regular quality checks on threaded products using gauges, calipers, and other measuring instruments to ensure they meet required tolerances and specifications. Conduct routine preventative maintenance on threading machinery, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts. Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report major malfunctions to the maintenance department. Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Meet production targets and deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. Accurately complete production logs, quality records, and other required documentation. Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and quality assurance personnel to optimize production processes and resolve issues. May assist in other areas of production as needed. Qualifications: Proven experience operating heavy industrial machinery, preferably threading equipment, in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders. Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, thread gauges). Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operation and basic maintenance. Knowledge of different materials (e.g., steel, aluminum) and their threading characteristics is a plus. Commitment to safety and quality. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy materials. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience with overhead or JIB cranes is highly desirable. Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects (typically up to 50 lbs, occasionally more with assistance). Requires repetitive motions, bending, stooping, and reaching. Good vision (with or without correction) to monitor machine operation and inspect parts. Work Environment: This position operates in a manufacturing plant environment. Exposure to noise, dust, oils, and moving mechanical parts is common. Adherence to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, and hearing protection is mandatory.
