Role Overview The Nutanix Migration Expert will lead large-scale infrastructure modernization and migration projects, focusing on transitioning workloads from legacy environments (VMware, physical servers) to Nutanix Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) platforms. This role demands deep technical expertise in Nutanix technologies, strong project leadership, and hands-on experience in complex enterprise migrations.
Key Responsibilities Migration Strategy & Planning Conduct discovery and assessment of existing environments. Develop detailed migration strategies, runbooks, and risk mitigation plans. Design scalable Nutanix AHV/ESXi architectures, including cluster sizing and DR planning. Execution & Delivery Lead end-to-end migration using Nutanix Move and other tools. Perform pre-migration health checks, execute migrations, and validate post-migration functionality. Ensure minimal downtime and business continuity during migration. Technical Leadership Act as SME for Nutanix AOS, AHV, Prism Central, Files, Volumes, and Flow Network Security. Provide expert troubleshooting and performance optimization. Collaborate with networking, storage, and application teams for integrated solutions. Governance & Documentation Maintain detailed documentation of architecture, configurations, and DR plans. Develop best practices, toolkits, and automation scripts to accelerate migration efforts. Client Engagement Conduct interactive workshops and provide pre-sales technical support. Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards during migration.
Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise 5+ years in IT infrastructure with focus on virtualization and hyperconverged systems. 3+ years dedicated to Nutanix migrations (AHV, Prism, Nutanix Move). Strong understanding of networking (VLANs, routing, firewalls) and storage concepts. Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi and cross-hypervisor migrations. Certifications Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or higher (e.g., NCP-MCI). Preferred: NCX, VCAP, CCNA. Tools & Technologies Nutanix Move, Prism Central, Nutanix Files/Volumes. Familiarity with scripting (PowerCLI, Python) for automation. Soft Skills Excellent communication and client-facing skills. Ability to lead teams and manage complex projects under tight timelines.
Preferred Experience Disaster Recovery design using Nutanix Protection Domains and Leap. Migration of databases leveraging Nutanix NDB. Working in regulated environments with change control processes.
