Reporting to the Associate Director, North America Transportation Compliance, Freight Pay/Audit & Analytics, the Sr. Manager, Transportation Operations is responsible for driving financial performance across inbound and outbound transportation activities supporting Becton Dickinson’s manufacturing, sterilization, supplier, and warehouse operations. This role provides strategic oversight of transportation financial results, including annual budget development, quarterly forecasting, and monthly variance analysis. It partners with business operations to align cost performance with expectations, identifies and implements continuous improvement initiatives, and delivers measurable results through Cost to Win strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the planning, execution, and delivery of complex, high‑impact supply chain programs and projects focused on North America.
Identify, recommend, and lead initiatives aimed at reducing transportation costs and improving service levels across the network.
Support the management of third‑party carrier relationships to ensure cost‑effective and service‑oriented transportation.
Partner with assigned business units to handle annual freight budgets, develop baseline spend data, perform quarterly budget refreshes, and conduct meticulous monthly variance analysis.
Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and dashboards to monitor transportation operations and drive continuous improvement.
Contribute to the North America transportation strategy for inbound and outbound operations, focusing on technology, systems, and analytics.
Oversee carrier rate governance and collaborate with Procurement to manage contracts, rate agreements, and maintain planning and audit processes.
Operate as the subject‑matter expert on pricing agreements, service types, and freight characteristics.
Experience
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Integrated Supply Chain with expertise in Transportation Management, Planning/Inventory Management, Distribution Management, Analytics, Technical Systems, or Customer Management.
Proven track record of handling multiple priorities, establishing clear targets and objectives, and delivering projects on time, including oversight of third‑party providers through defined KPIs and performance metrics.
Strong understanding of enterprise systems such as SAP, JDE, BI, TMS, and other relational database sources for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Advanced proficiency in data visualization and analytics tools (Power BI, Excel, etc.) to design and maintain dashboards that drive operational insights.
Demonstrated leadership in engaging, influencing, and advising stakeholders at all levels to foster collaboration and alignment across complex projects.
