Siemens Mobility, a leader in transport solutions with over 160 years of experience, is seeking a Director of Contract and Claims Management to support our Rolling Stock business in Sacramento, California. The role requires strong knowledge of government procurement, contract negotiation, and claims prosecution, with a proven track record of process improvement and leadership in a regulated environment.
Position Overview The Director will strategically manage contracts and claims throughout public procurements and project execution, drafting claims, position papers, and legal documents. The role demands clear communication, effective risk assessment, and collaboration with project teams and business partners.
Preferred Experience
Law degree (admitted to practice in U.S. or foreign jurisdiction) and/or extensive contract management experience
Experience preparing and defending claims against customers and suppliers
Experience developing other contract managers
Exceptional claim drafting and defense skills
Proven ability to identify risks and opportunities
Ability to deliver high‑quality contract advice and corresponding documentation within tight timelines while managing multiple assignments
Detailed Responsibilities
Develop process improvements to strengthen claims identification and prosecution
Analyze, evaluate, and resolve diverse matters with customers, partners, and suppliers
Lead and coordinate the project team to assert and avert claims
Identify and assess contractual risks, opportunities, and requirements, and communicate findings
Collaborate with project management to define the contract/legal strategy for projects
Consult with management and draft official correspondence for public owners and suppliers
Defend against external claims through presentation of exonerative facts and documentation
Prepare for and participate in claim negotiations and pre‑litigation matters
Conduct legal research and writing
