Director of Business Development
We’re looking for a natural connector in the healthcare industry to lead growth and sales at Holden Ellis. At Holden Ellis, we build healthcare brands that think boldly and act beautifully. Strategy, branding, design, digital experiences and go-to-market advertising campaigns are our craft, but it all starts with the right relationships. We’re looking for a Director of Business Development and Revenue to help lead that charge.
This role is ideal for someone who knows how creative studios work, understands the value of brand, and has deep roots in the healthcare and/or tech space. You don’t have to be a former creative, but you do need to sell the work with conviction and clarity. You’ll be responsible for finding new opportunities, nurturing relationships, driving deals forward, and helping shape our studio’s growth strategy. This is a highly collaborative, highly visible role with direct access to leadership, creative, and strategy teams.
We’re based in Columbus, Ohio, but open to remote candidates who are highly connected and collaborative. Interested in candidates that live in Nashville, Chicago, New York/New Jersey, Boston, Atlanta and Dallas.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Identify, engage, and nurture leads in healthcare, tech, and other target verticals
Represent Holden Ellis in the world: at events, in meetings, and across networks
Build and manage a pipeline of qualified new business opportunities
Lead the end-to-end sales process: from first outreach to signed contract
Collaborate with strategy and creative leads to craft proposals and pitch narratives
Partner with leadership to refine our positioning, packaging, and go-to-market approach
Track performance, forecast pipeline health, and report on revenue targets
This position will require travel
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
5–10 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or strategic sales
Proven track record of selling creative, digital, or marketing services
Deep understanding of branding, design, and the value of creative strategy
Strong network in healthcare and/or tech industries
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to self-direct, prioritize, and keep momentum moving
Bonus points for experience working at or with creative studios or agencies
PAY
Base salary: $80,000-$90,000
5% commission on gross profit for new clients and projects (paid quarterly)
2% commission on gross profit for existing clients and projects (paid quarterly)
Travel expenses and networking budgets included
