Senior Engineering Manager

Overview The Graph team is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of accomplished engineers to deliver our first release. You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction, strategy, and culture of our team. This role is ideal for a leader who is both people-focused and technically astute—someone who can translate product vision into scalable systems while fostering an environment of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

Manage a team of engineers to deliver the first release of the Graph product.

Work closely with design, product and program management to define the priorities, user experience, product roadmap, and schedule.

Take ownership of the development life cycle, closely supervise progress, identify risks and opportunities, and report progress to senior leadership.

Play a pivotal role in attracting, hiring, onboarding, and retaining exceptional engineers through mentorship, and grow them professionally and personally.

Use data and instincts to make informed decisions and drive the team’s progress quickly, balancing speed and quality.

Cultivate an environment that embraces teamwork, celebrates achievements, and fosters collaboration for shared success.

Be a great leader and teammate: collaborate is key to our success and you will lead by example.

Advocate for engineering excellence: champion architecture and high‑level structure of our applications, ensuring high quality and scalability.

Lead cultural and process improvements across the broader engineering organization.

What You Need to Succeed

BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

10+ years of demonstrated experience in software engineering, showing deep understanding of development principles, practices, and methodologies.

Proven ability to lead software engineering teams and deliver high‑quality software solutions.

Strong technical background and analytical abilities; experience developing commercially successful web applications.

Excellent technical skills in evaluating systems architecture, especially with full‑stack technologies.

Drive consensus on requirements, ensure timely decision‑making, provide guidance, prioritize tasks, and optimize scope and time.

Passion for collaborating with design teams from concept to production and facilitating effective communication.

Track record of developing, leading, coaching, and mentoring software engineers in a positive, growth‑oriented environment.

Ability to collaborate and adapt to different cultures, time zones, and work styles.

Compensation The U.S. pay range for this position is $154,700 – $320,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on related knowledge, skills, and experience. Some region‑specific ranges include:

California: $221,000 – $320,000

Washington: $200,200 – $289,900

Non‑sales roles use a base salary with an Annual Incentive Plan (AIP). Certain positions may be eligible for long‑term incentives in the form of a new‑hire equity award.
