Job Summary Provides a safe and secure environment for hospital patients, visitors, and employees by enforcing hospital security regulations and continuously monitoring and reporting potential safety hazards and unusual occurrences. Patrols assigned areas, gives particular attention to high‑risk locations, and responds to incidents with appropriate containment or escalation.

Responsibilities

Identifies unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas/property to prevent theft, injuries, or damage to hospital property, patients, visitors, and employees.

Maintains strict confidentiality standards at all times.

Investigates thefts, shortages, and other complaints of potential criminal misconduct by questioning involved individuals; notifies appropriate law‑enforcement agencies and detains suspicious individuals as appropriate; when authorized, makes arrests and participates in subsequent court proceedings.

Prepares and submits written reports accurately; logs all incidents promptly and keeps supervisor informed.

Maintains accountability for valuables/property and evidence in custody, ensuring safekeeping and proper documentation.

Performs dispatcher duties utilizing integrated security systems; radios dispatch personnel, responds to calls for assistance, and maintains documentation.

Assists in workplace and domestic victim assistance; responds to medical emergencies; if authorized, assists in patient restraint; participates in dignitary protection and controls pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Voluntary participation in departmental committees, task forces, and teams.

Qualifications

Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Recognizes, acknowledges, respects, and effectively interacts with all people, establishing positive relationships and gaining trust.

Ability to de‑escalate anxious/stressed individuals and manage aggression.

Works effectively independently and in teams, multitasking as needed.

Strong problem‑solving skills and critical/analytical thinking; exhibits good judgment and prioritization.

Demonstrates community policing, risk analysis, and crime prevention concepts and practices.

Strong writing skills for documentation.

Intermediate computer skills (typing, database software).

Education Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice preferred. This role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree.

Experience 3–5 years preferred in hospital, security/police, emergency medical, or customer service environments.

Licenses & Credentials Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver’s License (State).

Job Details Grade: 5 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 16 Employee Type: Regular Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Pay Range: $22.88 – $32.72 per Hour
