Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Engineering Multi- Skilled Manager
in
El Segundo, CA . Lead a multidisciplinary team (10‑15 engineers) in Phantom Works to advance discriminator technologies and high‑impact space/air capabilities from R&D into programs of record. This position reports to the Phantom Works Systems Engineering Capability Leader.
Position Responsibilities
Provide technical direction across multiple concurrent programs; ensure engineering artifacts meet Boeing and customer standards
Support execution of engineering strategy, technical roadmaps, and integrated plans to advance program milestones and TRLs
Advocate for and manage R&D/IRAD investments; drive transition of technologies into programs of record
Oversee technical performance, schedules, budgets, and quality metrics
Ensure compliance with Boeing processes, safety standards, and customer requirements
Coordinate across programs, divisions, and functional areas to align engineering efforts with program and enterprise objectives.
Engage with customers and partners to support program execution and special access requirements.
Build, mentor, and retain a high‑performing multidisciplinary team (10–15 FTE)
Define career paths, conduct regular development reviews, and meet hiring goals (e.g., onboard X engineers in 12 months)
Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe environment emphasizing safety, quality, and transparent communication
Manage employees performing activities in multiple engineering disciplines and ensure effective staffing and work allocation
Basic Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or related technical discipline
10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years in program or people leadership
Proven product development and systems engineering experience across lifecycle phases
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
Experience with space and air platforms, and working with DoD (DAF, Navy, Army) and USG customers
Demonstrated success capturing and executing R&D/IRAD projects and transitioning technology to programs of record
Proven experience in one or more of: mechanical, RF, photonics, electrical, or project management
Prior exposure to MBSE, SysML, model‑based workflows, and digital engineering toolchains
Strong written and verbal communication; experience managing high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams
Security Clearance This position requires an active U.S. Top‑Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.
Travel Travel up to 10% may be required.
Compensation Summary pay range: $151,300- $204,700
