Affirm
Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Consumer Servicing)
Affirm, Atlanta, Georgia, United States, 30383
Overview
Senior Software Engineer, Backend (AI Agents) Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the AI Agents engineering team within the Servicing Engineering organization. Our team works closely with an omnichannel AI agent vendor to provide a conversational first point of contact for our customers. We focus on orchestrating the systems within Affirm to continuously find solutions for our customers. The team is newly formed and taking on big unknowns, so we are looking for someone who wants to take ownership and execute for whatever is necessary.
What You’ll Do
Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and ensure that everyone is supported throughout delivery.
Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.
Proactively identify project, process, technology or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
Support the operations and availability of the team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on-call efforts.
Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond the team through writing and talks.
Develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.
What We Look For
4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale with Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
Experience defining a technical plan for delivering a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design. Writes high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
Proficiency in making significant changes in a large code base, and developing tools and practices that enable safe changes.
Strong ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from the team, manager, and stakeholders.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
