IT/OT/IS Department Manager

Job Responsibilities

Represent the company to embody values and beliefs; serve as an effective communicator building quality relationships with team members and clients.

Lead the IT/OT/IS Department, ensuring team development and job satisfaction; provide training and resources for team members to meet responsibilities and goals.

Collaborate with Project Managers and Best Practice Leads to allocate resources optimally across projects, aligning with career objectives.

Review and evaluate resource needs; collaborate with the Director of Automation and Digital to determine assignments.

Other responsibilities may be assigned.

Staff Hiring

Evaluate department forecast and make recommendations for additional resources.

Define job descriptions and evaluate resumes.

Interview potential hires and conduct new team member orientation.

Assign Best Practices Leader/mentor for on‑job training.

Team Member Administration

Understand and document team member goals, objectives, and career interests.

Collaborate on SMART goal setting and quarterly review.

Mentor, recognize, and reward team member accomplishments.

Provide input to the Director of Automation and Digital for annual salary plans and maintain vacation/sick leave schedules.

Approve timesheets, expense reports, and overtime; control administration time and assign billable work.

Maintain training and tools for team members; provide off‑site updates.

Provide regular feedback; hold monthly 1‑on‑1 discussions; conduct formal annual performance appraisals.

Create and document a succession plan for key positions.

Team Member Terminations

Identify poor performers and involve Human Resources.

Develop corrective action plans; monitor progress.

Initiate termination discussions with Director of Automation and Digital and Human Resources when necessary.

Project Responsibilities

Create Scope/Deliverable/Assumptions (SDAs) and estimates; coordinate delegation.

Assign personnel to projects; attend forecast meetings and revise assignments.

Provide departmental forecast and monitor budgets, schedules, and scope.

Ensure customer deliverables are quality‑checked prior to release.

Work with Best Practices Lead to develop a Quality Assurance Plan.

Personal Growth

Collaborate with Director of Automation and Digital to set SMART goals; review quarterly.

Marketing / Sales

Assist Marketing Department with marketing documents and proposals.

Participate in account management and build customer relationships.

Engage in Seller‑Doer sales model and other sales initiatives.

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical degree.

15+ years related work experience.

US work authorization (Required).

Experience designing, specifying, and installing IT equipment (servers, switches, firewalls, routers).

Experience designing OT equipment for industrial control systems.

Experience with Rockwell Automation products, software, and architecture.

Experience implementing various network architectures and strategies.

Ability to read and develop IT system scope documents, drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Experience collaborating with management, departments, and customers to identify end‑user requirements.

Experience with server configuration and management.

Experience with virtualization, including design and installation of virtual machines, VLANs, and VM architectures.

Proficiency in SQL, Python, C+, C#, .NET and common industrial programming languages.

Experience with Azure and software version control tools (DevOps).

Object‑oriented programming skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate.

Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert.

Experience with ASP.NET, Web API, Angular, and similar languages.

Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint accounting system.

Physical Requirements

Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long periods.

Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods.

Light lifting up to 30 lbs.

Ability to speak to and listen to team members/clients via phone or in person.

Motor skills sufficient for unencumbered movement around office environment.

Location

Position based in Cincinnati, OH region.

Hybrid Work‑From‑Home arrangement available after onboarding; reliable commute to Cincinnati office required.

Salaried position, 40 hours per week; additional hours may be required.

Work performed in indoor office setting/client site.

Travel Estimated travel is minimal to 30%; higher travel may be required on occasion.
