Raytheon is a world leader in high altitude imaging sensors. In the Advanced Product Solutions department, we provide remote sensing systems for time‑critical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. This role, located in Westford, MA, focuses on mechanical design and documentation of electro‑mechanical assemblies, supplier coordination, and manufacturing support.

What You Will Do

Follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with lead engineers to achieve design and production goals.

Use PTC Creo Parametric for mechanical design and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles for documentation and fabrication.

Collaborate with a multi‑disciplined team on structural design, optic housing, electronics packaging, circuit card assemblies, interconnects, and thermal management for sensor systems.

Engage frequently with Program Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Personnel, and external suppliers, traveling to Raytheon facilities and suppliers as needed (typically ≤10%).

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Equivalent Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 3 years experience.

Proficiency with PTC Creo Parametric (preferred) or other mechanical CAD design tools.

Experience using PTC Windchill PLM system.

Experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles.

U.S. citizenship required.

Qualifications We Prefer

Design experience for electromechanical assemblies related to optical system design, including kinematic mounting, athermalization, and optic potting.

Knowledge of aerostructure, fastener design, materials, and fabrication methods.

Knowledge of statistical concepts and engineering methods to characterize product behavior.

Experience executing modal, structural vibration, and other analyses using NASTRAN/PATRAN or ANSYS.

Ability to develop hardware designs that meet specified thermal environments.

Experience with thermal analysis of electronics enclosures, circuit card assemblies, or airborne stored equipment.

Proficiency in creating high‑tolerance mechanical part and assembly drawings.

Production support experience with basic measurement tools.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Knowledge of mechanical CAD design and electronic design.

Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance.

The salary range for this role is $82,000 USD – $164,000 USD, based on experience, location, and qualifications.
