Servicing Department Manager The Servicing Department Manager will lead Socotra Capital’s loan servicing function and play a critical role in asset management, portfolio performance, and operational excellence. This position is responsible for overseeing all post-closing loan administration, borrower compliance, payment processing, and default management.
This is a senior operational role reporting to executive management and working closely with originations, underwriting, asset management, accounting, legal, and external service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Servicing Department, including loan boarding, payment processing, escrow administration, insurance tracking, and payoff processing.
Establish and enforce servicing policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure consistency, accuracy, and scalability.
Manage staffing, workload allocation, training, and professional development within the servicing team.
Oversee ongoing loan performance across bridge, construction, and business‑purpose loan portfolios.
Identify early warning signs of distress and elevate issues proactively with asset management and senior leadership.
Manage loans in default, including notices, borrower communication, forbearance tracking, and coordination with legal counsel.
Support foreclosure, deed‑in‑lieu, receivership, and REO transitions in coordination with asset management and legal teams.
Maintain detailed status reporting on non‑performing assets and workouts.
Partner closely with underwriting and originations to ensure clean handoffs from closing to servicing.
Coordinate with accounting on cash application, investor reporting inputs, reconciliations, and payoff calculations.
Serve as a key internal resource on servicing‑related issues, borrower communications, and process improvement.
Evaluate and enhance servicing systems, reporting tools, and workflows to support portfolio growth.
Implement best practices for data integrity, document management, and servicing analytics.
Contribute to the development of dashboards and reporting for senior management and investors.
Qualifications & Experience
7+ years of experience in loan servicing, asset management, or loan administration within private lending, commercial banking, or real estate finance.
Prior management or team‑lead experience with responsibility for operational oversight and staff development.
Strong working knowledge of business‑purpose lending, including bridge and construction loans secured by residential and commercial real‑estate.
Experience with insurance tracking and escrow management.
Familiarity with default servicing, workouts, and foreclosure processes (multi‑state exposure preferred).
High attention to detail with strong organizational, documentation, and follow‑up skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with Salesforce, loan servicing systems, or similar platforms strongly preferred.
