Security Engineering Manager, Kuiper Security We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Arlington, VA, USA | Herndon, VA, USA | Redmond, WA, USA.

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

As the leader of the Kuiper Security Incident Response team, you own the outcome of delivering high‑quality and timely response to reported high‑severity security issues that impact Kuiper and its customers.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities We are looking for an experienced security leader to join the Kuiper Security team. As a security leader you will own building and managing a team of Incident Responders and technical leaders, fostering a strong team culture. You and your team will be expected to triage security events, produce novel solutions, and collaborate with product engineering teams to take the right actions in appropriate time‑frames to mitigate risks. This role combines long‑term strategic planning to raise the bar on security across the enterprise with the excitement and challenge of quickly reacting to new threat scenarios. You will be responsible for your team’s organizational structure and how that team works within the context of the larger Amazon Security team. You will manage delivery of long‑term projects and participate in the organization’s planning processes.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of managing and developing teams experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field

Experience in managing and developing teams

Knowledge of security of web services, telecommunications, embedded devices, cryptography, network security protocols and operating system security

Experience leading an Incident Response function in a tech company

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field

Knowledge of information security technologies such as security design review, threat modeling, risk analysis, and software testing techniques

Experience managing remote team members

Experience in managing an IR team that supports products ranging from embedded devices to cloud services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $157,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position will remain posted until filled.
