Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Have you wanted an opportunity to secure an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Kuiper Security team owns the security of product and operations of Project Kuiper end‑to‑end. We provide the necessary infrastructure and mechanisms to ensure the security of our satellite constellation and to protect the integrity and confidentiality of our customer data. Our team drives the research & development, deployment, and operation of several mission‑critical security systems and mechanisms.

The Kuiper Security Incident Response team is led by the Security Engineering Manager who owns the outcome of delivering high‑quality and timely response to reported high‑severity security issues that impact Kuiper and its customers. This role balances speed with long‑term risk reduction, identifies trends, and works with partners to eliminate recurring bug classes at source.

Export Control Requirement Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key Job Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of Incident Responders and technical leaders, fostering a strong team culture.

Triage security events, produce novel solutions, and collaborate with product engineering teams to mitigate risks in appropriate timeframes.

Speak authoritatively on behalf of the team, demonstrating depth and breadth of technical knowledge.

Design the team’s organizational structure and integrate with the larger Amazon Security team.

Delegate tasks and manage delivery of long‑term projects, serving as a thought leader across the organization.

Identify trends in incident reports and work with partners to remove recurring bug classes at source.

Influence partner teams’ security strategy to optimize outcomes for customers.

Participate in hiring, development, training, and overall team leadership.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of managing and developing teams.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.

Experience in managing and developing teams.

Knowledge of security of web services, telecommunications, embedded devices, cryptography, network security protocols, and operating system security.

Experience leading an Incident Response function in a tech company.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Knowledge of information security technologies such as security design review, threat modeling, risk analysis, and software testing techniques.

Experience managing remote team members.

Experience leading an IR team that supports products ranging from embedded devices to cloud services.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $157,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market.
