Job Description Summary GW’s Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS) is the largest undergraduate school on campus and home to the liberal arts. The Undergraduate Academic Advising Office empowers students to make intentional, informed decisions in pursuit of their academic, professional, and personal goals. The Senior Academic Advisor introduces strategies to foster personal and academic success in a welcoming, supportive environment that values each student’s experiences, identities, and strengths.
Responsibilities
Track and manage student records through paper and electronic means.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to strengthen the advising team.
Develop, maintain, and enhance internal projects that further student success and advisor accessibility.
Participate in all‑hands‑on‑deck events such as new student orientation, graduation, etc.
Serve within an advising POD and provide students with general CCAS advising.
Act as a liaison between the advising office and special student populations (e.g., transfer students, first‑generation students).
Oversee CCAS’s Academic Success Program, supporting students on academic probation, returning after suspension or leave, and other students needing additional guidance.
Work closely with campus partners to proactively support all CCAS students in need of support.
Assist students with navigating transitions, exploring options, overcoming challenges, and developing academic plans by individual appointments and group sessions.
Track and manage student records, develop and maintain internal projects, and enhance programming for specific student populations.
Support preparation and execution of major college events such as graduation and orientation.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study.
Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Hiring Range $45,925.13 - $63,191.56
