Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Invitae - Molecular NGS Invitae, now part of Labcorp, is seeking a motivated and self‑driven Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join its team in San Francisco, CA. This role will be responsible for performing high‑complexity diagnostic testing on patient specimens across various molecular assays and platforms. The work requires excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to multitask as well as work independently within a team environment. Previous molecular diagnostics experience highly preferred!

Schedule: 1st shift, Tuesday‑Saturday, 7am‑3:30pm Address: 1400 16th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103

Responsibilities

Perform clinical laboratory specimen handling, processing, testing, analysis, and records maintenance according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Identify any issues that may adversely affect the quality of test results and escalates these to appropriate representatives to ensure prompt resolution

Assist with quality control and quality assurance activities

Maintain appropriate laboratory supplies and inventory

Prepare reagents and perform instrument maintenance

Oversee Laboratory Technicians performing clinical activities (in accordance with state regulations)

Participate in trainings and competency assessments of other technologists

Participate in verification and validation studies for process improvements, new equipment, and new technology transfer

Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Participate in continuing education credits

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non‑traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

Current CA CLS Generalist or CGMBS License required

CGMBS license highly preferred

2 years of experience working as a CLS or Medical Technologist highly preferred

Molecular biology lab experience performing DNA sequencing or high‑complexity molecular techniques preferred

Experience using liquid‑handlers is a plus

Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus

High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range:

$50.00 – $66.26/hour All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Benefits Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only.
